How You Lose Weight in an Infrared Sauna

by Kimberly Edwards on February 11, 2009

infraredsaunahollywoodI know, we’ve always heard that saunas are good for losing weight.

But Why?
Mostly, because you’re sweating in them. Reportedly, to get 1 gram of sweat, it takes 0.568 kcal to produce.

If you ran 2-3 miles, you’d create about 500 grams of sweat, equivalent to that of a typical sauna session…That means you could burn up to 350 kcal doing so.

Here’s a great video to help you learn how you lose weight, and get other benefits, in infrared saunas.

Now, I wouldn’t advise you to go ahead and eat that chocolate cake and not think about it…You’ll just be spinning your wheels…Try not to eat that cake and burn some extra calories. That’ll get you where you want to be quicker!

infraredsauna-leanWhat I like is that the infrared sauna is not just for weight loss, but to detoxify your body, improve cardiovascular health and circulation, thereby relieving joint pain, and it’s a great beauty treatment for your skin too!

What’s great about the detoxification is that often times, toxins in the body keep that fat inside…It doesn’t like to let go!

I have also heard that far infrared saunas are good for reducing cellulite as well!
