How To Get Rid Of Love Handles – The Secret

“Love handles” is a slang term for a layer of fat that is hangin’ around a person’s midsection, especially visible on the sides over the abdominal external oblique muscle.

Basically, it’s the fat that hangs over the side of your jeans when you tighten that belt up, or put on that bathing suit…

…they are called “love handles” because they provide a soft handle to grab onto, or to rest a hand upon while one’s arm is around a person, or perhaps because they can serve as places to hold on to while in the heat of passion.

Love handles tend to cause both men and women to be image-conscious regarding their looks, and can lead to a negative body image.

How To Get Rid Of Love Handles

This is a very tough area to get rid of fat in because as you start to lose fat, the love handles and gut fat are the last to leave since that’s where the body stores fat first, for males (for females, it’s in the thighs), so it takes patience and dedication to a good workout plan and a consistent diet.

There are a ton of products on the market for eliminating love handles. It is generally agreed that spot reduction is impossible, and that the best way to shave off those handles is to simply lose fat in general by being more active (through activities such as cardiovascular exercise and weight training) and consuming fewer calories…But burning at least enough calories to have you in the win column for calories burned versus calories consumed.

I don’t agree that you can’t spot reduce. There have only been a few scientific studies to prove this…but, what I see is that in areas where we have more solid muscle, there is a tendency to have less fat.

So, what am I saying?

…That I don’t have to wait around for a scientist to tell me what I already know by studying people that I see everyday…people that I’ve trained, my own body, and by doing my own research.

…That along with burning more calories than you take in on a consistent basis, if you start to develop strong muscle in the area around the stomach, “the love handles”, that you can, in essence, start to see your love handles melt away.

Some exercises that you can do to get rid of your love handles include crunches, sit ups, Russian twists, side crunches on a rubber ball, side tilts while holding light dumbbells, just to name a few.

It is essential that you go for high repetitions with low weight, and not low repetitions with heavy weight. You’re not trying to gain bulky muscle or any muscle at all for that matter, but to tone your body, work and strengthen the muscle that is already there.

Try to mix in circuit training at least 2 times per week. This “shocks” the body and causes it to “wake up” and make a change; that change will increase your metabolism.

While trying to lose belly fat it is important that you have a positive attitude.
I also think that changing your diet is more important for healthy weight loss then exercise, but combining them is ideal of course

Change your diet, and if you do, start with your healthy exercise routine to speed up the process.

Always gotta do that. Exercise is critical to getting rid of love handles. Especially developing lean body mass.
